Thanks to Robert Freedman and the Yiddish Song database, Gitta Hartman of the Beth Hatefutsoth Museum of the Jewish Diaspora, Flory Iagoda, Tata Records and Duck Baker, who introduced me to John Zorn. I am especially indebted to Maury Bernstein, who first mentioned me in ethnic music of every imaginable variety, Mark Stillman, who taught me how to play in odd-meter Eastern European styles, Sima Shumelovsky, a great entertainer who immigrated from Russia to St. Paul whom I've had the opportunity to accompany.

A special thanks to David Harris who, along with Judith Brin Ingber and Mick Labriola, members of Voices of Sepharad, has schooled me in the Sephardic tradition. Were it not for my work with these individuals, I wouldn't have a clue when it comes to this music. Thanks also to Rod Volker, the sound engineer who was endlessly patient and tirelessly optimistic while recording this CD in the beginning of 1999. Most of all, I thank John Zorn for challenging me and encouraging me to follow my imagination.

"It could have been worse, and there is no limit to how much better." Sholem Aleichem

"G-d never does the same thing twice." Baal Shem Tov
